What Are Memberships?

Memberships is a new feature designed to help businesses create personalized loyalty experiences by segmenting customers into specific groups. This allows you to define unique loyalty rules, perks, and benefits for each group, making your programs more effective and relevant.

Why Did We Build This?

Managing loyalty programs for diverse customer bases - such as wholesale and retail audiences - can be complex. Many solutions take a one-size-fits-all approach, which fails to meet the unique needs of distinct groups. 

Memberships solves this challenge by enabling businesses to:

  • Segment customers into specific groups for tailored experiences.
  • Customize loyalty rules to align with each group’s preferences.
  • Drive engagement by offering benefits that resonate with customer needs.

How Memberships Work

Memberships allow you to organize customers into exclusive customer groups. 

Once grouped, you can define loyalty rules and manage memberships through various setup options:

  • Automated solutions using Shopify Flow.
  • Advanced programmatic assignments via API.
  • Batch updates using CSV uploads.
  • Manual adjustments in the Influence dashboard.

Use Cases:

  • Offer B2B clients bulk discounts, and exclusive rewards, excluding regular discounts & deals.
  • Provide members-only access to new collections, limited-edition items, or exclusive products.
  • Launch limited-time memberships during holidays or special promotions to drive engagement.

We’re working on enhancements to expand the Membership experience, including:

  • Self-enrollment options for customers via subscription platform integrations.
  • Monetized memberships with premium perks like early access, shipping discounts, and site-wide discounts for paid members.
  • Recurring membership plans and automated workflows tied to subscriptions for seamless management.

How to Get Started

  1. Navigate to the "Add Memberships" section in your Influence.io dashboard.
  2. Set up customer groups, define loyalty rules, and assign customers using Shopify Flow, API, CSV uploads, or manual methods.
  3. Test your setup with a small group to ensure everything runs smoothly.
